Embark on a journey of discovery as we explore the charming towns of Évora and Monsaraz. Our adventure starts at the lively Praça Grande or Giraldo, a bustling political, religious, and commercial hub. We will then immerse ourselves in the area’s rich history by visiting the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Church of St. Francis, with the option to delve deeper into the Chapel of Bones.
Our exploration continues as we marvel at the impressive Roman Temple of Diana, dedicated to imperial worship. Our journey would not be complete without taking a moment to appreciate the city museum’s stunning historical tiles featuring classical authors and visiting the magnificent Espírito Santo College, now transformed into a University.
Monsaraz offers a medieval experience, complete with a castle, watchtower, pillory, and old Audience Palaces, boasting a one-of-a-kind artistic heritage: the 15th-century fresco of the “Good and Bad Judge.” We’ll then take in the breathtaking sights of Europe’s largest artificial lake and the country’s most significant water reserve. As we return to Lisbon, we’ll stop at the Esporão estate or in S. Pedro do Corval, leaving you with unforgettable memories of our trip.

If you must cancel your trip, penalties may apply based on the total trip price.

Before you enter into a contract with us, we reserve the right to change any of the facilities or services described in our brochure or website. We also reserve the right to cancel the booking do to weather and/or other conditions. Any changes are usually very minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. If a major change, such as change in departure time, becomes necessary, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible your tours begins. When a major change or cancellation occurs you will have the choice of accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available tour from us, or cancelling your tour. If booking is cancelled we will refund all payments made directly to us in respect of the tour price. We will not refund any personal expenses you may have incurred as a result of your booking such as flight payments for land-only tours, travel insurance, equipment purchases, visas, vaccinations etc.
We’ll start in Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with historical treasures. You’ll see the Roman Temple of Evora, a well-preserved ancient structure. We’ll visit the Evora Cathedral, a stunning Gothic building, and the Chapel of Bones, a unique and intriguing site.
You’ll walk through the old town, admiring the traditional white-washed houses and learning about the city’s long history. We will also visit the University of Evora, one of the oldest in Portugal, and the Giraldo Square, the city’s main square.

Next, we’ll go to Monsaraz. This is a small village on a hill. You’ll walk on the village walls and see the Monsaraz Castle. You’ll have amazing views of Alqueva Lake.
We’ll walk in the small streets and see the old houses, and we’ll visit the Mother Church of Monsaraz. You’ll learn how this village was important in the past. Monsaraz is a quiet and beautiful place on your Evora and Monsaraz Tour.
On our Evora and Monsaraz Tour, you’ll meet friendly people from the Alentejo region. You’ll learn about their traditions and try tasty Alentejo food. We’ll visit places where they make wine.
